Training essentials

'

Proper training, being an essential part of every respected company's policy, is crucial for the newcomers to become fully aware of their future profession's requirements. Being part of a Cabin Crew, contrary to what most people believe, is not just waitressing in the air. Alas, it is far more than that!!! With that being said, flying attendant's job is not only to provide the passengers with the best flying experience ever, but, above all, to facilitate their safe arrival to the destination. Well, as for my part, the learning process is in progress, the cumbersome folders are waiting patiently to be scrutinised while the Dubai is growing on me. Default training essentials for the next endless couple of weeks are: red tshirt, black trousers, red lipstick and crayon, mascara, red nail polish, a hair bun cocooned in tons of hair spray, conservative style watch and some lovely fragrance.

First flying experience

It was pretty damn good acctualy! Difficult as it was to leave literally everything behind, flying off to DubIai felt just the right thing to do. Anyways, I am writing to you guys from the air, after spoiling myself with some food and drinks and after taking a refreshing nap. I have to say, Emirates crew are the best! Since I am a vegetarian I shyly asked the crew for a vegetarian meal instead of chicken and they offered me one of the extra portions which was cabin crew lunch. Customers first! The climax of the journey came in its very beginning though. When the crew found out we are their colleagues to be, the lady told us the nicest thing you can ever hear while starting fresh! She said trustworthily: you will enjoy this flight and you will enjoy the rest of your lives! Expectations: zero. Headache: massive. Temperature: sauna alike. Water: yes, please. Happiness: full.

All set

This is it. I am all set to go straight to Dubai. The new hair is done, the suitcases are packed and all I can think of now is the things I've forgotten because there is always something missing in our luggage, don't you think? Can't we just be happy with what we have? Whatever the desire, you will still crave more. Anyways, every day I am grateful for what I have because I have more every day - more experience, more love, more everything! P.S. My hair colour's changed, well, half of it because of the love/hate "ombre", so now I am partly blonde partly brunette, can you believe this? Au revoir!!

Bracelet Gift

I have always felt that I am taken great care of, notwithstanding the medium. To know that your family is supporting you as much as they can, your true friends are always there at your service, and that even your worse enemies are lurking around every corner to take you down a peg or two, is a real blessing. I feel exeptionally blessed that I have that all! This uber-charming red string bracelet I got recently from one of my dearest friends who is surely coming to visit me in Dubai as soon as I manage to build my little nest in there! Only Love...

New chapter

In five days from now I will be dwelling in a brand-new place somewhere in the desert with very distinct climate - temperatures in Dubai are now reaching 46 Celsius degrees! Apparently, I will be working uncivilized hours with total strangers each time on board. The cultural mosaic will be colossal, like nowherelese in the world. I am leaving behind my former lifestyle but at the same time I am taking everything I am with me. Dubai is to become my new home very soon and you know what, I am very looking forward to it!

Bit by bit

Little by little I managed to take all the vaccinations. Weren't they mandatory, I definitely wouldn't have taken them. Sore arms, blurred perception, dizziness and nausea are not my objects of desire. What has to be done has to be done though, so yesterday I finally took the last shot. Inoculations are no joke since they contain poisonous toxines so I needed to take many precautions to boost my immune system. Fortunately, there is variety of foods which facilitate your well being and I happen to eat plenty of these. Here is to the healthy eating habits in search for which you can explore my previous posts like this one!

Ultimate Airport Dubai show

So recentrly I've been absorbed in watching the Ultimate Airport Dubai series (which you can also watch here). Since the airport may soon become my home away from home I find the show quite amusing. However, as the very name suggests, the SHOW focuses mainly on mishaps this international mecca deals with daily. Had it not been for the variety of little airport misfortunes, the show apparently wouldn't have been interesting for some. It seems to me, though, that the distress would always be somwhere out there and we should certainly do our best to avoid it but hey, do we have to pay so much attention to dolor? I reckon the bright side is what I want to focus on and this show provides me with great deal od information about the Dubai aviation hub and interesting cultural facts I am so hungry for right now!

Final Interview impressions

My Final Interview for Emirates Airline went so smoothly I didn't even realise I was struggling to get a job. Actually, there was no sign of a struggle whatsoever. The thing is, I literally got to love the company as they treat you with great courtesy which is not to be seen elsewhere. Knowing that you are not alone in all the new is utterly comforting, too. So, my FI started with a casual talk, believe it or not, about my fashion choices, the handbag to be specific. I had a lovely chat with the recruiter which really helped me to relax and feel comfortable. Afterwards, we continued with numerous specific questions about my previous job experience in details. As the recruiter had to interview me and fill out copious forms at the same time it was very difficult for them to keep eye contact all the time but we've managed the information exchange successfully: my personal experience for the company information. After the interview, again, there was some time spent on finding out that there are certain mutual hobbies and aspirations of ours which only made me feel more cosy about the whole process and that much as I like solitude I will not be a lone wolf in Dubai as there happen to be people like me everywhere. Did I mention that I had my interview on St. Valentine's day? Well, indeed I did, I did indeed!

Saying goodbye means saying hello

Quick update of my spinning life today. The closure came sooner than I thought: I have finished my infinite years of education to be a student again - this time in Emirates College. Also, I have met my people whom I literally love. Being surrounded by such wonderful people, I cannot resist feeling thankful. Alas, might need to say goodbye to some souls but hey, the ones that stick together would stand the test of time and stay tuned no matter the circumstances. However difficult it may seem to say goodbye to the old it is worth it as you cannot start the new with the old lurking behind your back, right? Thank to each and every one of you who made this graceful day so exquisite!

All the waiting

There is nothing accidental about the waiting during recruitment/interview/casting, whatever your endeavours. The thing is, all the waiting makes you susceptible to stress and other positive thinking repellents. Many a time I have been told about the calming influence I allegedly have on people around me so I started thinking: what is it about me that makes other folks so calm and relaxed? Suddenly, I came to realisation: I think people might be just permeated with the feelings I am emitting at the very moment. Not a new concept, I know. However if you think about not so comfy position you may find yourself in, what's better way to cope than feeling motivated by stress rather than freaking out because of it? Back to the track though, the waiting would always be somewhere out there - the recruiters want to test your approach at the very beginning. So, if you show your superiors you cannot bear one or a few days in stressful environment (we are talking stress, hunger, weariness and what not), how could you cope while doing the real thing?
All things considered, the waiting during the recruitation is all purposeful and there is nothing random about keeping you waiting for at least two hours. Easy logic behind this, I guess. Having learnt that, I am good to go and wait as long as it takes to achieve my goals. Have a good weekend!

The Open Day aka OD

So I thought it would be nice to share with you the stages one needs to go through while applying for a job as Cabin Crew. Beware though, these stages may vary according to airline's policy. Anyway, as you may have already realized, the first stage is called the Open Day and it is basically a mutual introduction day. OD pretty much consists of getting familiar with the company by watching some short movies, saying "hi" to the recruiter and handing them your CV. I have to admit that the OD I attended in Warsaw was really fun. It was held in a luxurious hotel which I showed up in 15 minutes before the scheduled time. We all went smoothly through the short movies, some Q&A and proceeded to the CV-handing part. I think it was all about first impressions as, like I said, all you had to do was to come closer to the recruiter, give them your CV, answer some easy question such as "when did you finish high school?" and smile, above all - smile. And that's it! We were then told to wait till the late afternoon for a call. Successful or not, we were about to receive a call saying if they would like us to proceed to the next day of recruitment or not. How very courteously! Lucky as I was, and I am thinking "beginner's luck" if so, it wasn't until I got home, than I received a call with the good news: I was invited for the Assessment Day which was held straightforwardly the following day. Excited as I was, I tried to keep a curb on my emotions as I needed to stay level-headed the next day. If you are curious how my AD went just stay tuned! The picture here is the one that was approved, not so very enchanting, I know... Met the standards though :)

Yet another weekend

With a view of not so very greenish Dubai environment awaiting I am trying to spend as much time as possible surrounded by nature and nothing but! A good chance to catch up on fresh air happened to me this weekend when I travelled to the countryside for this lovely family reunion thingie. I made myself comfortable wearing the notorious Birkenstock sandals unceasingly - they are the comfiest sandals ever and I am planning on getting another pair in black soon. For all that matters, the weekend went lovely and I am glad I could see my relatives there. Have a lovely week!
