Healthy eating habits (3)

Today, I would like to introduce you with the next healthy eating habit thanks to which you will prevent suffering troublesome stomach disorders. Believe it or not, it DOES matter what state of mind you maintain while eating. Today we will consider the effect that stress has on your eating. Although this healthy habit may sound a little awkward in the beginning, you will find it really reasonable when you learn its imperatives.

Healthy eating habits that had been already published you can find here(1) and here(2).

So, let us begin with the rule number three which is...

Habit no 3
We never eat while being under stress

I could as well go on with all the scientific and biological stuff I have been absorbing for the last few years, but instead, I would rather put this into much simpler a discourse.

Thus, why do we want to eat something in stressful situations, even if we are not remotely hungry? Do not worry, for I say, it is an obvious thing that our subconsciousness pushes us towards stability, pleasure and "the known" (a state of mind when you are relaxed and secure), in stressful moments. Others eat in order to set their minds on something else than the problem, an that very moment. This is perfectly normal as all of us would prefer to feel good to being in distress. This is our subconscious mind deciding. In this manner we are prone to eating something, especially things of not neccessarily nutritious nature, while being under stress. Frankly speaking, even if we eat our most nutritious meal ever, it would do harm to us due to the energy it would be permeated with and the mysterious nature of our digestive system.

I assume it may be a kind of surprise for you but in the food we are eating, there is an energy put into it. We may put it there ourselves or somebody may put it there before us (e.g. the person preparing the meal, the farmer, the butcher...however meat usually does not have so good energy in it as, by nature, there is the pain animals felt the moment they were slayed). Furthermore, we could even change the energy of the meal in front of us simply by praying - seems like an ancient and old-fashioned tradition but it is so grateful and beautiful I believe people will start praying again soon. A silent moment of cocentration and showing gratfulness for a meal, even mentally, will do.

Why then should we not eat while being under stress? Because we simply "eat" the emotions that prevail in us at that particular moment. Is it not enough that we already are stressed? Is it neccessary to put another potrion of stress into us? In case this doesn't seem convincing enough, I will add that the food you take when you're stressed is very difficult for your stomach to digest. The reason for this being that when the stress prevails, the digestive system stops working because the energy is spent on overcoming the stress. For instance, the same applies when we are exercising: the digestive system is not digesting food as the energy is being designated to doing exercises, getting rid of toxines, burning fat etc. It's just the nature of things.

I hope I have made myself perfectly clear as the rule above is not difficult to put into action, provided that you are aware of it.

I wish you all a very happy afternoon and not too many stressful situations in the following week:)

Remember that it is up to you, what state of mind you maintain.

Ponieważ zwyczajnie "zjadamy" emocje, w jakich aktualnie przebywamy.

Eating less

<Polska wersja poniżej>
"Eat only when you are really hungry. Oftentimes I see people eating dozen or so times per day, even while walking on the streets. This does not serve the spiritual life. This is neither the mind nor the tongue that needs the food but the body. However, more than once we feed our minds and tongues instead of feeding our stomachs. This situation reflects the lack of balance in our lives.

Never snack between the meals. If you feel so called fake appetite which originates in your mind and on your tongue, drink large quantity of water. The more water you drink, the more frequently you will have to excrete it and, thereby, your organism is being freshened up and your mind remains refreshed. Drinking water really helps in your spiritual life. The organism purifies and renovates. Moreover, by drinking more water we need less food. Those who eat more ought to drink a glass of water before the meal, which would reduce their appetite."

Control your tongue

<Polska wersja poniżej>

"The tongue is very dangerous a tool. We have our eyes that are designed to serve one goal - to see. Our ears are designed to hear. Although the tongue is only one, it has two functions: speaking and tasting. These two are very hazardous tasks; therefore you'd better control our tongue. Eat less and talk less and your consciousness will be bigger. If you eat a lot and speak a lot your mind is restless too."

"Język jest bardzo niebezpiecznym narządem. Posiadamy dwoje oczu, które służą jednemu celowi - by widzieć. Dwoje uszu służy temu, by słyszeć. Jedz mniej i mniej mów a będziesz miał większą świadomość. Jeśli dużo jesz i dużo mówisz, twój umysł jest niespokojny."

Healthy eating habits (2)

<Polska wersja poniżej>

It is high time to introduce you with the next healthy eating habit due to which you will always feel light and full of energy. No, I do not recommend drinking energy drinks, whatsoever;) What is it then? You will find out in a moment...

Some time ago, we started with a substantial, yet not commonly known rule about not drinking while eating, which you can find here. I am curious how do you feel about this and whether it worked well for you? I encourage you to share all your opinions, successes, doubts and complaints here, in the comments section, instead of writing me in private, so that everybody could benefit from your experience. Naturally, you can do both:)

Today's healthy eating habit is simple to learn as well as to maintain:

Habit no 2
Eat fruits separately or one hour before the meal

A conviction that fruits are for dessert is ubiquitous. I can agree with this statement on the condition that we eat this dessert separately, between the meals or as a meal. Eating fruits straight after the main meal is just nonsense. No wonder why people say: "Oh, these strawberries made me sick. After eating them I had a severe stomach ache. There must be something wrong with them!" It seems unlikely that strawberries caused such serious a stomach ache unless they were washed properly or eaten after the meal.

The problem is that people follow even the stupidest traditions and schemata blindly just because their ancestors used to do the same. Instead of copying all the customary actions and beliefs we should actively and consciously search for what works well for us. Obviously, that does not mean that one should reject the traditions and forget about one's origins. It's better to make some mistakes and finally find our way instead of following somebody else's path, though.

Thus, why eating fruits separately or approximately one hour before the meal? It comes with no surprise, again, that the explanation would be fairly simple and coherent. Fruits digestion does not require a lot of time: it usually takes about half an hour to digest fruits in your stomach. At the same time, to digest heavier food such as carbohydrates or proteins (this is what our main meals usually consist of), you need 3, up to 7 hours, depending on the kind of food. What is more, meat, consumed on a daily basis, clogs our intestines and can linger there up to two days causing many infections of our digestive system. Undigested remains of food (not only the ones from the meat) can remain in your intestines even for years (!) and by contaminating your intestines they cause infections. After years, these seemingly harmless infections can cause serious diseases such as liver diseases, tumour, etc.

Consequently, if you eat something heavier first and then add some easy to digest fruits at the top, you create kind of "traffic" in your stomach as the fruits have to "wait" for the rest to be digested first. While the digestion is in progress fruits "wait" and grow mouldy as the time passes by. This is where the majority of infections have their origins: mould, fungi, vermin... Shall I continue?

On the other hand, when you eat your fruits before the meal they would only benefit your health. Not only would these fruits be digested properly but they would also prepare your stomach for more solid meal providing it with all the essential for the digestion process enzymes.

All things considered, it is better to eat fruits about one hour before the meal, separately, between the meals or instead of a meal. The choice is yours. Whatever choices you make, remember to be fully aware of them.

In case you have any following questions I will be pleased to help you:)
Have a beautiful weekend you all!

Wybór należy do was. Pamiętajcie, żeby dokonywać świadomych wyborów, jakiekolwiek by one nie były.

Z przyjemnosią odpowiem na wszelkie wasze pytania moi drodzy:)

Życzę wszystkim kolejnego ciepłego i pięknego weekendu!

FRUIT DAY

<Polska wersja poniżej>

Having learnt from here that to purify yourself it is advisable to fast from time to time some of you quail on the thought of stopping eating for one or more days. Naturally, it comes with no surprise to me as I've been where you are:) Even now, after some years of experimenting with fasting, my mind is on not so rare an occassion full of miechief. Having that in mind, and the fact that we entered the season of fruit abundance, I present you another idea to purify your intestines, blood, mind... What I have in mind is:

FRUIT DAY!

The instructions are pretty simple: you eat only fruits for the whole day (or more days if you like). Provided that in the summer our craving for food dicreases, this is a perfect occassion for introducing fruit days in our week schedue. After such a relief for your digestive system you will feel motivated, fresh and powerful the following day:)

The only rule of fruit day is that you are allowed to eat as much fruits as you wish on condition that these are fruits of one kind, i. e. only strawberries, just nectarines or mangos exclusively. Also, you'd better not eat just bananas for the whole day as they are rather dry and extremaly caloric in comparison to other fruits thus they will block your body instead of purifying it.

To sum up, take a day off, take advantage of summer season and eat only fruits (but of one kind) for the whole day! And, of course, share your opinions and experiences with me:)

I wish you all a happy weekend!

HOT/COLD shower

<Polska wersja poniżej>
Today you are given the specific information about an alternate shower. The alternate shower amounts to pouring yourselves with hot and cold water alternatively. This simple action which you can practice every time you take a shower has innumerable benefits!

    Alternate shower:
·         relaxes your muscles
·         is recommended to be taken after the training so as not to have muscle soreness
·         speeds up the process of regeneration, especially after excessive physical effort
·         improves blood supply in your skin, which benefits its smoothness, firmness, flexibility and its quality in general (especially in the cellulite-covered areas)
·         improves blood circulation
·         improves your mood
·         refreshes, stimulates and relaxes the whole organism
·         strengthens your immune system
·         makes your organism more robust
·         renovates your organism
·         purifies your skin
How to apply such alternate showers? Keep in mind, that the simplest solutions are the best! When you are taking your usual shower finish it with the alternate one. You will simply pour cold water for 10 seconds and hot water for another 30 seconds up to a minute. Continue for five rounds. Remember to start pouring cold water from the feet going up and the opposite as for hot water. Also, finish your shower with cold water as it contracts blood vessels.
If you are afraid of cold water I can assure you that there is nothing to be worried about. Our bodies are able to get used to many things in the twinkling of an eye. However, thin, fragile people may find it difficult to pour cold water, especially in the winter, so remember to always listen to your organism (but do not indulge yourself in what you think is good because pleasurable!).

Naprzemienny prysznic:
· rozluźnia mięśnie
· stosujemy po treningu, aby nie mieć zakwasów
· przyspiesza regenerację organizmu, zwłaszcza po wzmożonym wysiłku fizycznym
· powoduje lepsze dokrwienie skóry tym samym poprawiając jej gładkość, jędrność, elastyczność i ogólnie jej jakość (szczególnie w miejscach gromadzenia się cellulitu u kobiet)
· ujędrnia piersi
· poprawia krążenie krwi
· poprawia samopoczucie
· orzeźwia, pobudza i relaksuje cały organizm
· wzmacnia odporność(!)
· hartuje organizm
· przyspiesza odnowienie organizmu

How much should I eat?

 <Polish version below>

"When they ask me how much should one eat I say: the less, the better! Nobody had never died from moderate eating. People die and have diseases because they eat way too much (and because they unrestrictedly pamper their senses in many ways - author's note). The majority of people have their stomach stretched to unnatural sizes (this is exactly what we can easily observe among the majority of man- pendulous belly, and more often nowadays among women especially those with "apple" figure - author's note) and that is why they eat 5-10 times more than they need to. The habit of eating too much is a serious mistake, a vice, which a person should definitely fight. Physiological capacity of the stomach is 350-450cm3.

A good advise concerning the amount of food intake can be found in Hippocrates. He claimed: "If you finish eating with the feeling of hunger - you are full, if you feel that you are full - it means that you poisoned yourself".

If you put your hands together you will have the capacity of your stomach (...). That is it. However, if the amount of the food intake exceeds this capacity every day it stretches continuously.

People who have excessively stretched stomach, are permanently hungry and the more they eat, the more hungry they become. To stop this vicious circle, one should not be in a hurry while eating. It is a simple but extremely beneficial advise. Please, learn to eat slowly and to chew the food thoroughly."

Fizjologiczna objętość żołądka to 350-450cm3.

Jeżeli każdy złoży dwie dłonie to uzyska objętość swojego żołądka (...). I to wszystko.

Why is it worth practising Yoga?

Not satisfied with modern technologies and shallow knowledge of the unfolding mysteries of nature, man tirelessly seeks a goal beyond. Man may boast about their intellect, supposedly knowing everything, but the time has come when this “omnipotent” intellect seems to be just a reasoning machine that is unable to bring answers to man’s questions. Because of this all-embracing disappointment people are more and more keen on Yoga and related teachings. Through internalizing Yogic philosophy we are able to appreciate every single moment of our lives, and this is just the tip of the iceberg as Yoga practice may bring about a variety of other benefits.
Yogic exercises are said to be more beneficial for our health than usual sport activities. Yogis regard a physical body as a vehicle – an instrument for his journey toward perfection. The Yoga system had been thought for many centuries before all the modern systems of physical culture were conceived. Therefore, the founders of the Yoga system possessed a knowledge which is superior to all modern theories. A prerequisite to keep an automobile in a good condition is cooling the engine when it gets hot. The same principle applies to the human body as well. Being constantly overworked, our body and mind are less efficient in performance. Modern social life, work, diet and entertainment, make it difficult  for the civilized man of today to relax. Moreover, he has even forgotten a natural way of recharging the body “batteries” during relaxation. Yoga is a system of teachings, traditions and exercises which, provided that we combine them all together, would help us to benefit best even from the simple relaxing techniques.
Since Yogic tradition is closely connected to Ayurvedic medicine, which is an ancient natural medicine of the Far East, a natural vegetarian diet is strongly recommended. In order to maintain good health and state of mind one has to combine in their diet four elements being: protein or nitrogenous food, carbohydrates, hydrocarbons or fat minerals. These four elements are found in larger proportions in vegetables than in animal tissues thus, vegetarian diet is the prerequisite for the body’s repair and upbuilding. The most valuable sources of protein are: nuts, peas, beans, milk and cheese; whereas wheat, oats, rice and other grains, fruits, potatoes, etc., contain mainly carbohydrates (starches and sugar). Eating natural and healthy food is a must, especially for those who live in polluted places, as it provides the body with all the essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals.
The primary aim of all paths of Yoga (there are many different traditions of Yoga) is realization of the Brahman (God, Absolute etc.) even though they differ as to the means employed. For the human mind is by nature unsteady and it is at every moment affected by senses and other external factors, which mind perceives through the agency of these senses. Yoga, which is extremely popular among the westerners nowadays, prescribes various “pranayama” or breathing exercises. “Pranayama” is a Sanscrit word meaning “the control of the prana”, (“prana” being a vital energy essential for life to manifest itself). Controlling breath has a huge influence on our health and well-being. According to Yoga, the slower the breath is, the better. For instance, turtles set an excellent example – they exhale and inhale with a long intervals which is the main reason for their long life.
Although, some people are allergic to vegetable, nuts or they simply do not like eating them- what then? To do Yogic exercises one must consult somebody, which may be connected with spending money somebody cannot afford to. Also, practising Yoga may be dangerous as some people start advanced practise only after reading some books without any professional help from some Guru’s or teachers. This behaviour may not only cause strain of the joints or injury but also it is not good for everybody. For instance, visually impaired  people would not be able to practice all the postures. What is more, people can learn exhalation techniques by attending specific courses so learning how to exhale and inhale can be done without Yoga. There are people as well, who do not need yoga to cope with their everyday struggles and solve existential problems such as the question of “Who am I” etc. Moreover, on many occasions Yoga clearly is in a conflict with already professed religions.
All things considered, the word YOGA itself stands for integrating a soul – one’s true self, with God (Universe, Brahman, Absolute). Only through dedicated practice, a man can experience the tremendous benefits that the ancient science of Yoga promises for the body, mind and spirit. According to Yogic philosophy which identifies with the philosophy of the Far East a man, through dedication, determination and practice, can attain self-realization which is the ultimate goal of all existence. This self-realization (salvation, nirvana, unity with God) brings liberation of the soul or self from the bondage of mind, time and space.
