Empathy

"Probably you've heard about one of the most popular sayings for it is omnipresent in every holy book: "treat others in the same way you want to be treated yourself". It is simple calculation, not empathy. It does not have anything to do with spirituality - it is a sign of low, earthly morality: "treat others in the same way you want to be treated yourself". It is a business approach, not spiritual. You do something just because you would like to receive the same thing in return. It is very calculated, selfish and egoistic. You are not helping another person, you do not love them - you just comfort yourself. You take advantage of others. This is enlightened egoism but still it is egoism - very intelligent egoism but egoism. Empathy is not calculated prime, it just flows. (...)

Empathy is not something you can give to somebody; it is just 'not blocking' the sun. Try to notice its essence: it is 'not blocking' the divinity. It becomes the tool of divinity, enables the divine flow through you. You then become empty like a bamboo and the divinity flows through you. It is only an empty piece of a bamboo which can be changed into a flute as only such piece of an empty bamboo can enable the song to flow through it. 

Empathy does not emerge from you, it emerges from the existence, divinity. Kindness does emerge from you - this is the first thing that you should understand. Benevolence is something that you do whereas empathy is something the existence does."

"Pewnie słyszałeś o jednym z bardziej popularnych powiedzonek, w taki czy inny sposób mówi się o nim praktycznie we wszystkich świętych pismach - "czyń innym tylko to, co chciałbyś, aby oni czynili tobie". To czysta kalkulacja, a nie empatia. To nie ma nic wspólnego z religijnością - to oznaka niskiej, doczesnej moralności: "Czyń drugiemu tylko to, co chciałbyś, aby on czynił tobie". To podejście biznesowe, a nie - religijne. Robisz coś tylko dlatego, że chciałbyś dostać to samo w zamian. To bardzo wyrachowane, samolubne, egoistyczne. Nie pomagasz drugiej osobie, nie kochasz jej - tak naprawdę pomagasz samemu sobie. Wykorzystujesz drugą osobę. To oświecony egoizm, ale nadal egoizm - bardzo inteligentny egoizm, ale egoizm. Empatia nie jest wyrachowanym rozkwitem, ona po prostu płynie. (...)

Empatia nie jest czymś, co możesz komuś dać; to po prostu nieblokowanie dostępu do słońca. Dostrzeż jej sedno: to niehamowanie boskości. Staje się ona narzędziem boskości, pozwala aby to, co boskie przepływało przez ciebie. Stajesz się pusty jak bambus, a boskość przepływa przez ciebie. Jedynie pusty kawałek bambusa może przemienić się we flet, ponieważ tylko on może pozwolić piosence, aby przez niego płynęła.

Empatia nie wypływa z ciebie, wypływa z egzystencji, z boskości. Uprzejmość wypływa z ciebie - oto pierwsza rzecz, którą musisz zrozumieć. Życzliwość to coś, co ty robisz, empatia to coś, co robi egzystencja."
